Lake City, Minn. – St. Cloud State sophomore Charlie West (Victoria) won medalist honors and the Huskies placed second at the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Men’s Golf Championship. The final two rounds of the championship were played at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City on Saturday and Sunday.
The second place finish marked the third straight year that the Huskies have finished in second place. Minnesota State University, Mankato won its fourth straight team title, beating St. Cloud State by three strokes.
West took medalist honors after winning a three-hole playoff over Jon Anderson of Upper Iowa. West carded a 76-71-69-71=287 to finish three over par for the title and win the individual championship.
Husky junior Gordy Diekman (Alexandria) finished eighth overall. Diekman shot 74-77-76-75 for 302 tournament total.
