SOFTBALL: WEEKLY NOTES

Hogan

Junior catcher Mikayla Hogan is 9-22 in her last six games at the plate, including six extra base hits.

The Record: St. Cloud State holds an overall record of 20-26 and are 6-14 in the NSIC.

Recent Results: St. Cloud State lost a pair of one-run ball games Wednesday to Southwest Minnesota State and fell 4-1 and 6-2 to Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday in Duluth. On Sunday the Huskies won a pair of games against Bemidji State.

What's Ahead: The Huskies will travel to Mankato on Tuesday to take on Minnesota State in what will be their last regular season road trip. St. Cloud State defeated the Mavericks on March 18th in Winona by a score of 5-3. SCSU will return to Selke Field for the final weekend of the season with games against MSU Moorhead on April 21 and Minnesota, Crookston on April 22. Both dates will be doubleheaders with a planned 1:00 p.m start time.

Franks Pitches No-Hitter: Freshman pitcher Kelly Franks came back strong after missing a couple of games with a dislocated finger. She came in for two and a third innings of relief against UMD in her first game back, allowing just two hits and striking out five. On Sunday she threw her first career no-hitter against Bemidji State, striking out eight and walking only one along the way. In game two she picked up the win again, pitching an inning of relief and striking out the side. Overall this past week Franks went 9.1 innings with a 0.00 era and 16 strike outs.

Hogan Leads Offensive Attack: Junior catcher Mikayla Hogan hit for a .409 average this week (9-22) while catching every game for the Huskies. Six of her nine hits were doubles. Hogan also had six runs batted in and scored three runs. Senior Chris Saiz helped out on the mound this week, throwing 8.2 innings for St. Cloud State. Saiz also had eight hits, including three doubles. Junior Jordan Grell also had an eight hit, four rbi week.
